Medical Records Case Studies

Case Study Number 1 - A Long Island Community Hospital

SK was asked by a Long Island Community Hospital to alleviate a tight space problem for their Emergency Room Records. At the same time, they asked SK to make sure we kept retrieval costs down, even though the files in question less than a year in age. SK offered the possiblity of scanning all documents, managing them electronically, and make them available online, 24/7/365. We were able to accomplish this request, and the SK Office Online Software was created. One of the first hidden benefits that was discovered was that the Business Office could now log into our software and view Emergency Room Records on demand, without requesting anything from H.I.M. As a result, the Business Office requested that we scan their Patient Account Records and archive them online as well. We continued to modify the software to allow them access to not only the E/R Records, but to their own Patient Account Charts as well, with NO ADDITIONAL RETRIEVAL CHARGES.

Case Study Number 2 - Metropolitan Diagnostic Imaging

Metropolitan Diagnostic Imaging is a network of 5 Imaging Centers, located throughout the New York Metropolitan area. SK Had been the storage and archiving vendor for the network for several years. When SK introduced its scanning services, Metro asked us if we could digitize their paperwork, and create a centralized archive for centers to access. Metro and SK worked together to devise a system that put all of their patient charts online, as well as the EOB's and
Business REcords for the entire network. The files and data were segregated and indexed by Patient Name, Date of Service, and the center where they had been seen. Access to both the Clinical and the Administrative data is limited to both areas, respectively. The network has been using the SKOOL program for over a year, and everyone is very pleased with the way the information is being managed.
