CASE STUDY - ATHENS REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER, ATHENS, GEORGIA

Athens Regional Medical Center of Athens (ARMC), Georgia was a Hospital without an archive. The Radiology Department had been contracted with a DICOM Scanning vendor that unfortuately had to close its doors, and could no longer perform the business functions requested and required by ARMC. The Radiology Adminstrator was introduced to SK, and we offered him our DICOM-on-Demand Service. SK would archive and database the original files, and upon request, SK would pull the folder, find and scan the requested exam(s) into DICOM. The Hospital agreed to the concept, and for the past 3 years, SK has been logging into ARMC via a Secure VPN connection, and delivering DICOM studies directly onto the ARMC PACS System. We also overnight the Mammography files once a week, giving the Hospital the best of both the analog and digital worlds.
